MASSIVE atv/utv installs???
« on: September 25, 2010, 10:11:14 AM »
OK!  I really would like to know if anyone has used some Massive product on ATV, UTV, golf carts, boats, ect...

Im not looking for show vehicles, we're talking full use off and on road/water practical use!  I will be starting a Polaris RZR tonight and will be posting pics of the entire build.  Heres what we will start with:

1-Polaris overhead pod (holds 2 5.25 coax)(will cut to accomidate 6.5 components.
2-Polaris kick pods (hold 5.25)(will cut for 6.5 coax)
1-roll dynamat (interior of poly pods to reduce rattle and expand bass response.
1-orion cobalt 600.4
1-pr. VK6 componets
1-pr. VX6 coax
Metra Pro install 8ga hyperflex cable (all copper)
Metra Pro install 4 cond (all copper)

Maybe some kind of amp/crossover rack...(depend on space)

Now..I know what everyone is thinking....1st...why the orion amp?  Customer had already purchased the amp and would like to use it.  I would push for a Massive amp but, if he is happy with this I will be doing 2 more for him and 3 for his brothers...all of which will get all massive.

And 2nd...im sure you all wonder....what about a sub???  There is 2 reasons for no sub.  This is a practical use vehicle going in mud water...sh*t..you get it..  The cargo area where we could put a sub is very small and he doesn't want to lose that space. Plus...if you havent heard the VK6 components..they have excellent mid bass response especially in the dynamated enclosers.  Hopefully we will do a sub on on of the others, but for now no sub.

I will start posting pics asap!  Hope you all like and STAY MASSIVE!!

Nice clean job. Do you foresee any charging problems? I've done a few on-highway scooters, and just a basic no frills head unit taxes the charging system. Just curious. And on another note, where are you located? I'm in Sanford, Fl smack dab between Orlando and Daytona.

THANKS!  Im in Southaven, Ms...just outside Memphis,TN.

I have seen charging issues on some smaller utv/atvs, but if you cant tell this is a beast.  It still runs a 4 wheeler style battery, but the 800cc motor charges very fast.  Also not using any headunit so no drag from that just the amp and that is all.  We ran the system 1.5hrs with the motor off and started with no hesitation.  Im no sure what ampreage it charges at but it is quick.  Before we started it we were down to 9.2v and we ran it 5 min at idle turned it off and was already back to 12.5.  On another note, they are very ruff on these so the liquid cell battery will be replaced asap.  The battery box is large enough to accomodate a Kinetic d600 so that is probably what he will go with.  With that he should never have an issue.  It will be more that 30x the juice of that oe battery, as long is it charges properly.

This is actually his wifes ride.  It is new so not many extras YET!  When he picked it up Sun he dropped his off with me....it has many extras...Fox resevour shocks, doors, added roll cage, skid plates...ect.  He has well over 25g in his.  He is running an optima red in his...not sure what # but im sure the smallest they have.

Thanks for the response...there will be more to come!

Man, you get to play with all the fun stuff. And with Massive equipment too...  I need to come work with you, you hiring?  I can do basic fiberglass, advanced wiring, and I cook some mean ribs! I'm jealous. All I get to do at my shop are the crap cars of hood rats with usually stolen or pawn shop equipment. We just started carrying Massive Audio hoping to upgrade our clientele. Man I am sooo tired of every brother wanting Kicker stuff for 20 dollars...... And I'll leave it at that.

You're not telling me what I don't know. Its not all fun and games here.  Like I said..just outside MEMPHIS!  #1 crime capital.  I just took over managing this shop in November.  I installed for them for 5 years under the old owner and we on Hickory Hill in memphis (known by locals as Hickory Hood).  Bars on windows...still a break in or atleast an attemp 3-5x a week 2am or later.  Best moving product there was BOSS if that tells you anything!  Most was just installing customers equip....all stolen...no doubts..  I once even had a guy try to get some stuff install that was stolen from us...we had the serial #s!  Just because they can buy it on the street 2-15s 1000wt and box all kicker for $150 they think they can get it new for that.  Its crazy.

We are about 15mi south now and its a bit more laid back here.  I don't get to do nearly as much audio as I would like, but that is changing now that I am running things.  Im hoping to bring the Massive name to the area in a big way and it is already starting.  Had my first customer come in today and ask about massive equip by name.  I quess my hard work and their quality is paying off.

As far as the cool toys...that is personal jobs for friends.  Your average redneck is not dumping a grand into a utv.  Just let 2 guys go about 2 months ago because of low work load.  If you are seriously interested send me your info so I have it and I will let you know if something comes up.

We do alot of stobe lights, sirens, emerg vehicles.  That is usually pretty cool.  We own a company that sells Pierce Firetrucks and one that does Diesel proformance and maintenence so we do get to play with some different fun things.  Most installers are scared to drill a hole in a $50000 bmw and I tend to cut all kinds of holes in MILLION dollar firetrucks that are brand new.

Sorry for the long post...then again...I guess there are only like 3-5 of us that actually respond so this will just give the 1000+ others something to read..maybe they will have some input.

I don't know how old you are or if you remember how kids acted when parents could tear their buts up when they were bad, but now with playstations and time outs...  Gotta love this new generation.  Well keep up the atv/utv installs, they could become a lucrative line up for you.  I liked what I saw. For what it's worth.

Hmmmm.....so if your not posting for the 1000+ others to read then whats the point  ;)  If your so gung ho to share your wealth of knowledge then it shouldn't matter who responds....and on that note, if you are a true massive fan then take the time to scroll back a little further and you'll find that there is quite a few of us on here who post.  Not all of us have the time to "live" in the forum for a week, and then knock the rest of us because were not instantly responding.  I too was post crazy when I first got here and realized very quickly that this is a slow forum, but it's definately growing, and the posts are generaly quality thought out responses that are very knowledgeable.  The guys here who do respond know what there talking about, period.

And as far as the new generation stuff that johnboy was throwin' out....really?  lol.  You guys are talking about living in crime central parts of the the south and your gonna blame it on the new generation of kids?  Your mixing up the difference between diciplining a suburban houseld child who doesn't eat his dinner with a getto raised crack baby who steals for drugs.  Pretty big difference in my friend.  I for one do love this generation, as with all previous.  The fact that theres still "old people"(yes myself included) around to bitch about the way younsters are doing things now adays means that things are still changing in an ever changing planet, which I suppose means were still finding cures for diseases, still building bigger things, and still getting smarter ;)

Ok ok ok whoa there. Let's not get too serious here. Yes there are great young people out there, and yes they are doing amazing things in medicine and technology. I intended to aim my post at those that I deal with on a regular basis. And those are the "Time Out" generation, people who don't have a sense of consequence for their actions because they have never had any real punishment for their misdeeds.  The very few that I have the pleasure of working with that are the bright ones do stick out like a shining star and are the ones that still give me hope.

As for posting, I see your point and humbly apologize to all. I joined this forum for three reasons; because I want to support Massive Audio, I want to gain knowledge, and I would like to share what knowledge I have. I guess I am just a little disappointed initially in how slow this forum is.  Mabe I should have just watched a little while before I started posting, or not have had such high expectations. Both my faults.

Although my point is still valid, you are on a forum like this to share and to learn. If you just want to learn that is fine also, but why keep the knowledge you have gained through education or experience all to yourself? Even the guy or girl that has wired up his/her first head unit today has learned something through experience and I for one would like to hear it. I am far from a master installer, like really far, and I know I can learn from every one. I mean to push no one, but why not get involved?

:) ok thanks for clearin' that up Johnboy, I too was disapointed in how slow this forum was, I even tried getting everyone to post pics of their builds.  It worked for a while as people started putting on stuff and things picked up....and then they quickly dropped off again.  I used to visit this forum like twice a day to see if anyone put anything new on here, but now (last few months) I'm only here maybe twice a week.  I think that's why I got my feathers a little ruffled when I read you guys posting about no one here responding and what not, so I appologize for that.  On that note however...at least I responded ;)  lol

so....back to stereo.....your atv stuff looks great.  I really love the look of something that is clearly not stock, but could be stock because it blends so well with the look of the car.  I originally had my ride all done up in red velvet and crazy plexiglass amp racks that lit up, but I decided to go a little more sleek....I'm in the middle of still finishing up I'll post pics when I'm done.

I agree johnboy.  It isn't that I have to have posts.  I am looking for good responses with questions even those that sound stupid to some so we can help those that need it.  My  problem with post is that there are none.  I understand that not everyone wants to post on everything and not everyone has the time..but..dont call it post happy.  It wasn't that no one had time..there have been hundreds of MEMBERS...not guest..members reading and no response?  They all the response we get is to talk down to us and have no real profitable input on the subjects?  I don't agree.  The reason we post so much is to get the word out and promote this product and forum.  I don't only post here but all over all the social media sites trying to promote Massive and this forum.  Spark intrest in what we are doing as a whole and get some new prespective.  Dont get down on us for being gungho.. this country was built by gungho go getters that does what it takes to get the word out and get things done not by followers who just sit around and do nothing.

On the subject of the new generation...It is both good and bad... I love it...I love all the advancement in technology and what we can do with a simple remote.  At the same time I hate what it has done to the youth.  They think everything is going to be given to them...they have no respect for anything and they know everything...especially about our business...just because your friends brother has a system from wal mart and you listened to it doest make  you a mobile electonics specialist..  You know what I mean?  As far as hood areas go..Im not sure where you are at but unless you have live and worked somewhere like East Memphis you have no clue.  Yeah, you do have your crack babys, but that really isn't where most of our issues come in.  Most of the time it is 16-25 yr olds that are too lazy to get a job and bored so they just want to steal something because it makes them cool.  I know I have prosecuted many of them.  I have never had a crackhead break into my shop or cause problems here.  It is the lazy hood kids who act like no one gives them a chance in life when in reality they have every chance I had growing up..they think because the color of their skin everyone holds them back when in reality they are the only ones that care about their skin color.

Speak proper english pull your pants up and act like an adult no like your in a rap video and you might get somewhere.

I do appreciate your response as I do all.  Sorry if I came off harsh...Just a bit frustrated this morning.  Just friendly conversation.  I appreciate the comments about the build.

I too have switched from wild to mild.  I feel like the industry is now all about what you don't see.  Clean lines and everything hidden is what it is all about now.  Long gone are the days of flashy mirrors lights wild paint sceams.  I like it and hate it.   Some time I enjoy going crazy on something.

On that note I will be starting a topic on what ppl would like to see in a demo vehicle.  I will be starting a new shop demo/show vehicle in the next few months and would love some input. Just a heads up this is what we are thinking as of now...

03-06 Tahoe

3-QC 12
3-D2000
1-HD1600
2-CK6III components
2-CT2 tweet sets

Metra/Tsunami Has agree to sponsor with all wiring batteries connectors caps ect
Kenwood will provide a multi media unit w/ Ipod
I am thinking of intigrating an external HD for audio and video (no skipping here! Gotta love digital audio sources)
Flat black wrap on entire vehicle w/ ghost company/sponsor logos
Black 22"
Hidden turn down exhaust

Still in the planning process and will have a vehicle in the next few weeks.  It will be driven and shown to customers daily as well as going to shows.  I will be open to all advice and recomendations as I am only one man and other may see things that I dont.

Ok.....no long post needed for this one.  Clearly JOHNBOY understood my post and was able to have proper interaction on the topic and I'm glad me and him cleared up any misuderstanding.  Others not so much.  You want my opinion so bad...here it is ;)

In my experience, there is a group of people out there that have nothing better to do then get online and whine about something because they can.  Your racism is quited clear as you've all but stereotyped black people into being a bunch thieves.  "Speak proper English and pull your Pants up?"  Are you fucking kidding me?!  Tell ya what boss, either come on here and talk stereo or shut your godamned mouth.
