Ty, as soon as I can sell these (6) P3000's, I'll be upgrading power. I'm wanting either the MASSIVE AUDIO 4K's or the POwerbass 5K's. Either will be more than enough for the DMX subs. I have figured out that if I wanna play in the BASS RACE 159dB class, I need more power. The question is.....................can the DMX take it for 30seconds straight. Kinda like the DEATH MATCH!

Either way, gotta sell what I have to get what I want.

I have only 9,000 (RMS) watts. I want to get the dB8000's (4000rms) or the Powerbass 5000's. The Massives are 0.5ohm stable and the Powerbass is 0.35.  Massive can take up to 15vdc input and the PB will take 18vdc.

I can possibly get more power out of the PB amps @ 16volts (about 7000watts per) where as I can get 4000 per on the Massives @ 14volts. as far as cosmetics......................Look to have basically the (near) same housing. I've also recently had a call from American Bass. That was a suprise! I've never contacted them about anything.

Anyway, I need to sell/trade the P3000's and the P800.4 to get anywhere.

American bass makes good stuff to, the 500.1 or the 1000.1(two 500.1 in one heat sink) are nice amps, powerbass is nice to, when will the new massive amps be available? My truck should be done in about two weeks(hopefully!) I think with your current build the subs should be fine, If you rebuilt your box and gave them more air space, they may not take all that power. Sounds like we didn't give the aluminum cone dmx's a fair shake, not sure if massive has any T/S parameters on the aluminum cone but the fs/fo must be in the low to mid 30hz range.

I'm not jumping the gu just yet. For the most part, MASSIVE has treated my right, and the product is good also.

Only  a  few around here have MASSIVE AUDIO, and that's due to me! I guess we're caller the ELETE? Once I start competing again, it'll grow bigger. Economy isn't good right now, so $$$ is tight for everyone.
I'm going to do some work on the enclosure starting sometime in Janurary. We'll see how mych louder it'll got with the current power and then maybe step it up. IT WILL DO BASS RACE 159.9dB in 2010!

the aluminum cones can take roughly 2200-2500 watts rms for normal play (non stop) I can run my full tilt for hours with no issues.  granted it is install dependent, I should mention that I've "doctored" up my dmx's a bit.  no changes to the actual woofer just a few things to make it a little more reliable.

I've burped the aluminum cones on 6k each, they handle it thermally just fine.. mechanically is another story... in the big box that they're in they want to tear the surrounds.. they do just fine on 6k in my smaller "fart box"

The original carbon fiber was able to take about 4-4.5k with no issues (in my much smaller low tuned box--never tried them in the new box)

good info, thanks for sharing, and are you saying you could play the carbon fibers daily on 4-4.5k? Was with with your mod or a standard issued dmx? Just curious

After having two subs die mechanically I doctored them all-(took the cf's apart and "fixed" them).   I just found where they failed and made them stronger.. the two main issues..  tensil leads (the connection at the push terminal) and the plastic mouting ring.  it was similiar failure on both woofers.  I have yet to break one of my "doctored" woofers.

the aluminum cones do better if you glue the surround down and do away with the trim plastic ring.. the softer surround stretches around the the ring and it leads to alignment issues at higher excursion.. (the trim ring seems to push on the surrounds a bit.   ***I currently don't run the glued surrounds.. with the power I'm using it's not a real issue--atleast not on burps... I'll see if I can find a video of the surround "stretch" on a non-glued

The CF cones can take 4-4.5K in what size and tunning enclosure? I have 6 and will be modding the enclosure right after new years. I'm guessing around 4 cubes per tuned around 30Hz.

Chris, I bet they can take it, I've seen a member of team bassik(Joey) bass race with two dmx 15's runing off of 2 stetsom 7kd's...153 30 sec avg on music and he burped a 155, not bad for two dmx 15's and 14k worth of power...they can take it, not sure if they can take that much power on 4 plus cubes per sub though

I believe the box I had the cf in was 3.5 cubes tuned low-mid 30's...  it was my test box so not 100% certain... I always build a cheap thrown together box to test then build the real thing...

**my reconed dmx  take it (roughly 3.3k) in 4+ cubes (each)...  I've really tested the limits lately... they just keep hammering... I played them for 5mins full tilt the other day as people listened to the truck... people just kept walking over

That's awesome, I actually have 7 carbon dmx's, guess when these blow or begin to fade I'll use the aluminum recone, was gonna recone them with sundown nightshade soft parts

I've thought about doing the nightshade parts just for a try... the cost is up there though...

I'm gonna custom build some cones/coils ect for and 18" dmx that I'll use in the new truck (being massive doesn't build 18's)..

**When it happens I'll actually be building 3 of the 18's... one on a DMX motor, one on a Nightshade motor, and one on a HK12X2 Motor...   I'm going to do some direct swap testing to see which motor will work the best for my application..  then build a couple to run on 8 of the p1500's

**on the aluminum cones make sure and solder on the ring terms... the push terms break-just de-solder them and solder on the rings.. don't cut the lead or they'll be too short.

ummm, let me know how the 18's pan out, and I can acutally get the nighshade recone done for cheaper than the $199 cost of the aluminum recone kit from massive, although I'm sure Jeremy wouldn't charge me full retail for a recone kit...lol!
